The North America Regional Office in Washington, D.C. is composed of two pillar programs. The Transatlantic Dialogue Program fosters political dialogue among political, business, scientific and cultural multipliers from the US, Canada and Germany and develops innovative liberal approaches and solutions to transatlantic issues. The World Order and Globalization Hub fosters dialogue among political, business and scientific multipliers by encouraging increased mutual understanding within the global economic landscape. Both initiatives seek to facilitate a transfer of knowledge among experts in order to make a worldwide contribution to social and economic progress.

USA and Germany – unfriendly Friends in Trade?
In April our US delegation of political experts in trade from Congress, business and think tanks visited Hamburg and Berlin. The search for common grounds was easy to recognize on the strategic level: China´s hegemonial aspirations and the aggression from Putin´s Russia need a clear answers from the west. The threats and challenges from China and Russia demand an even closer transatlantic cooperation, politically and economically.

Disrupting Corruption: Anti-Corruption and Governance Policy Takeaways
From September 16-23, 2023, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Washington, DC office hosted ten anti-corruption experts for a week of meetings in Washington and Cleveland, OH. The delegation featured politicians, journalists, civil society leaders, and academics. During the eight-day trip, the delegation met with a wide range of experts, including federal and local government agencies, think tanks, and anti-money laundering experts.

Free Trade: How to Win Friends and Build Alliances in the Geoeconomic Age Policy Takeaways
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Washington, DC office hosted a distinguished delegation of eight experts in the area of international trade on a study tour from November 4-11, 2023, in Washington, DC and Houston, Texas. The delegation met with experts from various think tanks, universities, the U.S. Congress and local economic organizations, among other constituencies.

Free Trade: How to Win Friends and Alliances in the Geoeconomic Age
The World Order and Globalization Hub welcomed its twentieth delegation of experts in November for an eight-day study tour focusing on free trade. The Hub hosted a delegation of eight participants representing Malaysia, Philippines, Zimbabwe, Chile, Turkey, South Africa, Italy, and Germany for the program. The tour took place in Washington, DC and Houston, Texas. During the week, the delegation held meetings with experts in the field of international trade.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Washington, DC office hosted seven international energy experts on a study tour from May 13-20, 2023, with meetings in both Washington, DC and Portland, OR. Over the course of the eight-day trip, our experts met with representatives from the U.S. Congress, think tanks, and advocacy groups in Washington, as well local government officials, academics, and private industry in Portland.

Study Tour: “Germany’s Political and Economic Situation in Times of Crisis,” in Cooperation with the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA)
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s North American regional office was proud to host its fourth study tour to Germany, conducted in cooperation with the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA). This year’s tour featured a delegation comprised of the Lieutenant Governors of Nevada, South Carolina, Iowa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands and whose meeting partners covered a wide gamut of German political, economic, and civil society.
